Darrin Lee Robbins was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas. He grew up singing in the church choir. His dad was a huge George Jones and Conway Twitty fan. Darrin recalls, "We loved those guys. In fact, some of my greatest memories come from the numerous times dad and I spent together going to George Jones and Conway Twitty concerts." Exploring his singing talents beyond the church choir, Darrin joined his high school chorus. Though he was a starter on the varsity baseball team, hopeful of a full scholarship to a major university, he wanted to learn more about his vocal abilities. During this time, one band that would have the strongest influence on Darrin was Journey. Though he was raised on, and deeply loved country music, he was fascinated with the band. Darrin addes,"I would often times try to emulate Steve Perry's powerful vocal." Though many people thought his voice would be too low to reach Perry's range, Darrin began to catch some people's attention.

One of Darrin's closest friends encouraged him to enter a local contest that he had previuosly won. Darrin thought, "What the heck! I'll give it a shot." He went on to win, not only that contest, but several others along the way as well. Darrin's friends and family began to believe in his talent and encouraged him to puruse it. Due to an injury, Darrin did not receive a scholarship to a major university, but did play ball for the junior college.

Realizing that baseball was not likely going to be his career path, Darrin made the decision to pursue music. He booked his first performance at a small honky-tonk in Moss Hill, Texas. From there he put together a band and began performing at clubs throughout Texas and Louisiana. One in particular was Cutter's in Beaumont, TX, home of Mark Chesnut and Tracy Byrd. During this time, he met his wife Melinda. They now have four children; Brooke, Blake, Peyton and Holdan.

Darrin had begun to establish himself as an artist. Shortly thereafter, he was offered the position of lead singer for the house band at Cowboy's in Kennesaw, GA, which, at the time, was the largest nightclub in GA. He felt this could be a great opportunity. Given the full support of his wife, family, and friends, Darrin accepted the position and moved to Cartersville, GA. Throughout his eight years at Cowboy's, Darrin experienced a near miss with a major Nashville label, opened for numerous national artists, and obtained a solo deal with Edgewater Records, an independent label in Atlanta, GA. However, things did not develop as planned. Never losing faith, he knew the right thing for him would one day come along.

Through a mutual friend, Darrin received word that The River was looking for a lead singer and asked if he would be interested. Leaving no stone unturned, he expressed his interest. The River contacted Darrin and arranged to see him perform at Cowboy's. From there, the rest is history. Immediately, everything just felt right. The band was extremely impressed and knew Darrin could bring a powerhouse lead vocal and performance to the band. The chemistry was right. Everyone involved knew this would be an explosive combination. Darrin began rehearsing and performing with the band. He states, "I'll never forget our first performance together, opening for Alabama in front of 15M plus people. Being as it was, our first performance together, especially at such a large venue, we were all a little apprehensive. However, after that first song, we all knew it was on from that moment on." The synergy and excitment flourished. Several months later Darrin and his family moved to South GA. Darrin states, "I knew I had found my home with The River. It didn't take long to know I was now part of a real team." He adds, "Through all the years of playing music, I had never quite felt the true and genuine feelings of being a part of something so special. It goes way beyond the stage with The River." He concludes, "Though we have not been with each other from the beginning of our careers, I could not feel any more at home or happier than I am with The River. The last three years have been some of the best of my life and I look forward to many more to come. We are giving it all we've got! However, should we never get our true shot, record deal or not, I am where I need to be, doing what I love, sharing the stage and my life with some of the greatest guys I know."
